Techniques:
Shorter fly rods in the 2-wt. to 4-wt. range work well in the high country. Throwing dry flies or dry-dropper rigs is very productive. You can also fish Tenkara.

We will have winter conditions in the high country for a couple more weeks. Please check back early May for regular reports for the 2018 season.
Conditions:
Run-off has begun and snow is still blocking the road up high. Road is cleared from Ridgway to West Fork and town of Cimarron to Silverjack. There are still some trees down that the Forest Service is still clearing and snow is still between Middle Fork and West Fork. Head to tailwaters to wet your line and get ready for the high country to open soon.
