Longtime TU member John Hansel along with Elm Research Institute have generously offered to back a program aimed at getting elm trees in the hands of TU volunteers. After a successful program in the Upper Connecticut River, John decided to expand the effort to all chapters and councils.

Elm trees are excellent species for riparian and streambank restoration as they are one of the fastest growing trees in wet areas. The elms will come in four-inch pots and are about two to three feet tall. The trees can be shipped in lots of 25 and planted year-round. The minimum order is 25 trees. Chapters, councils or programs are only responsible for shipping costs. Volunteers interested will be asked to provide a one paragraph summary of the chapter or council planned restoration activity.
